Things to do in Lucca, Italy

There are a lot of great things to do in Lucca, Italy. If you’re going on a visit to this gorgeous city soon you better prepare yourself properly to make sure you visit those things that interest you most. Whether you’re visiting Lucca for one day, one week, or one month: there’s never enough time to discover this city and you’ll always find something new to admire.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the roman amphitheater, the city Walls of Lucca or the Guinigi Tower in your first searches on Lucca. But the city has much more to offer than the “typical” (but gorgeous) tourist spots.

The Aqueduct of Nottolini just outside of Lucca, for example, is a gorgeous architectural masterpiece in the middle of nature and is truly a must visit. Or if you want to look for some refreshment you may want to enjoy the Serchio River just outside the city walls. These two sights are some of those places that most tourists never get to visit just because they don’t know about the existence of them.

Besides all the gorgeous sights the city also obviously has lots to offer when it comes to food: gelato, pizza, steak, or pasta with Chianti wines: you’re sure to eat your heart out in Lucca. You can find some of the best restaurants in Lucca outside the city walls, but even within the walls you’re sure to get some good food.

Whatever you want to visit: it’s all up to you.  Visit the different sections of this website to discover all the city has to offer and create your very own itinerary. Enjoy your trip to Lucca!

Churches

Whether you’re religious or not, a visit to one of Lucca’s gorgeous churches is a must. Even just walking past the artistic monuments is a joy for the eye. The Basilica of San Frediano is my personal favorite church, but there are many others that deserve to be discovered.
